An education built on experience

In the lower school children do not learn about the world – they learn in it. Every experience, every attempt and every discovery is worth more to us than the best textbook.

Discovering the world and thinking critically

Children learn to see the world in context and to think in their own way. We lead them not to be afraid of asking questions, looking for different solutions and grounding their views in their own experience – not just in answers handed to them.

Responsibility for their own progress

In their work journal children record their tasks, their progress and their own reflections. They take it home regularly so they can share the path they are on with their parents.

Deep understanding instead of memorising

Montessori materials engage all the senses and lead children to a real understanding of the subject. Learning is then not mere theory but personal experience.

Caring for the school environment

Children take part in caring for the classroom, the garden and the materials. In doing so they learn responsibility, cooperation and a natural respect for the space they share.

Mixed-age classes

The younger learn from the older, and the older consolidate what they know by helping. We encourage natural cooperation rather than competition.

Their own pace and focused work

Children have the space to manage their own work so that they can build concentration and their own working rhythm without being interrupted.

What a day in the lower school looks like

No bells. No rushing. With a clear rhythm and a clear purpose.

The morning belongs to deep, focused work, with no bells and no needless interruptions. Children work at their own pace, plan their tasks and learn to see things through.

8:30 - 12:00

Midday means lunch and time outdoors. Children have room to take a breath, recharge and spend time in the garden.

12:00 - 13:00

The afternoon opens up space for creativity, projects and exploring nature. Learning connects with the world around us.

13:00 - 14:30

The after-school club offers free play and rest in the garden or in the yurt. Children choose activities that interest them and learn a natural independence.
