Bringing meaning back to school

Learning is life, and life is learning.

A small school with a big heart

We are building a school where children learn well and live well. From Year 1 to Year 9 there are 100 of us altogether. We trust one another and support each other as a community.

Over 10 years of Montessori education

We lead children to know what they are doing and why – and to take responsibility for it. Montessori is not just about materials and written feedback. It is an approach built on clear boundaries and meaningful work.

Our leavers set an example

Labyrint leavers have the skills, the knowledge and the character. They are open to challenges and able to take change in their stride. They know how to use their abilities for their own good and for the good of society.

Hard work and purpose are in our blood

We place great value on independent work at each child’s own pace and on working together across the school. We build hard and soft skills, we are keen on languages, and we love anything we can put straight into practice.

(pre-school year)

independence meaningful work concentration

Our youngest children learn with all their senses, outdoors and through practical activities that bring them the joy of doing things for themselves.

(Years 1–6)

their own pace critical thinking mixed-age classes

Children are the engine of their own education. They feel respected, they see the point of what they do, and they are free to go at their own pace. Their desire to know grows naturally as a result. They think for themselves, create, and help one another across age groups.

Adolescents take responsibility into their own hands – they study independently, explore who they are, debate the society around them and build projects that move them towards personal and financial independence.

Education built on values

Montessori develops abilities and skills – values shape character. What do we believe in at Labyrint?

Trust

We cultivate open and honest communication. We trust one another, we respect each other’s views, and we rely on everyone doing their work with the best of intentions.

Wellbeing

We create a safe and friendly environment where we and our pupils feel good. We work with joy, keep a sense of perspective and look after our relationships.

Collaboration

We look for solutions together, share ideas and support one another in professional and personal growth. Everyone contributes their own strengths to a shared goal.

Balance

We respect our limits and watch the balance between work and life. We teach the children and ourselves that sustainable performance rests on healthy boundaries and time to recover.

Support

We are here for one another. When things get hard we lend a helping hand and look for ways to make each other’s work lighter and our skills stronger.

Responsibility

We lead children to take responsibility for their learning, their actions and the world around them. In a safe environment we teach them to decide, to plan and to see the consequences of their choices as a natural path to independence and freedom.
